Tour through the historic industrial complexes of Hackney Wick and Fish Island. The walk also takes you along the tow path that skirts the Olympic site area ending on the Greenway with a marvellous view of the Olympic Park where you will see the completed Olympic Stadium, Aquatics Centre, the Orbit and the other stadia behind them.

This morning the Smile Boys were taught by Rabbi Hackenbroch about Shabbat as they covered the unit on Shabbat.

This morning we had a a beautiful assembly for Shavout by our very own Year 5 under the guidence of Sharon Wakefield; who told the story of the giving of the Torah as if they were there personally. It is with thanks to Mr. Schwartz for taking these photos of our assembly.

Woodside mid week club visited Top Golf during Pesach

A hardy bunch of 50 people from Barnet & Woodside Park braved the drizzle on Monday and enjoyed an imaginative and challenging Treasure Hunt in the wilds of Totteridge & Whetstone. Hopefully, we’ll have got the rain out of the way, so we can enjoy our next Young Families event:The Annual Shavuot Ice Cream Party on Sunday 27th May (1st day Shavuot).

The evening started with our usual learning programme at the end of Shabbat followed by the Grand M'Lave malka and Prize Distribution. Our Guest of Honour this year was Rabbi Yehudah Black, Rabbi of Kenton Synagogue.

0n Shabbat 3rd March our community was honoured by a visit from the Chief Rabbi, Lord Sacks and Lady Sacks.

Yavneh nursery celebrate Purim by making Hamentashen and then having a fancy dress parade.

On 23rd February 2012 Gila spoke on the subject of "From Commoner to Quuen". This was followed by a a demonstartion on how to decorate cupcakes by Suzi.

Our Year 4 Purim play which was performed by Aidel Hanovitch's class yesterday each child was a different character in the purim story and the children had to guess who they were. This was done in the form of a riddle said by each child.

The surprise activity was a graffiti workshop - each child was given their own canvas, stencils and spray paint and they came up with some incredibly creative designs.

We made a "pop up" museum, the girls brought in items that illustrated some aspects of their own lives, or some items that they had collected. They all displayed them, and then we had a chance to look at everyone elses exhibits. At the end of the evening, the "Museum" closed for business!

Edwin arranged for 3 speakers: Sami Hussein, Oliver Manyemba and Ishmael Khaldi to give 3 different perspectives in the wider population of Isreal and the Jews.

Yavneh Nursery celebrate Tu B'Shvat by planting a tree and making fat balls for the birds from seeds,bread and melted butter.

Little Dinosaurs celebrate Tu B'Shvat by making crepe paper flowers and having a small fruit party.

On 23rd January 2012 Rebbetzin Via Kimche came to Woodside Park to present her talk entitled "The Gift of Gratitude".

Here are the photos of the brownies decorating the boxes last week, which they then filled with goodies. Danni from GIFT then took them, and they were distributed to needy families the following day, thereby ensuring the Brownies did their "Good Turn" for the day!

A journey through Aldgate and Spitalfields discovering the post-resettlement communities and the centre of the late-19th century Jewish East End in and around Brick Lane where memories of schools, soup kitchens and sweated labour remain. Little Dinosaurs celebrated Chanukah with a party with songs led by Avivit with her guitar, toys, arts, crafts and lots of doughnuts.

On Wednesday 23rd November Internationally renowned speaker Dr Lisa Aiken came to Woodside Park to present her talk entitled "Why Bad Things Happen to People".

Photos of the Assembly we had yesterday The Cheder had an assembly on Mitzvah day when they presented the items the children made for the children in Belarus.

The Brownies made a return visit to the Barnet Countryside centre last Monday, where they were able to do some exciting autumn related activities. They took part in a bug hunt race, made acorn necklaces,
a greetings card using natural materials, tried their hand at stone sculpture and also free form art work again using natural materials found in the autumn. They were complemented on their creativity as well as their good behaviour!

WPS playgroup for ages 0 and up. The group runs on the 1st and 3rd Friday of every month. Shabbat party with songs for the kids and coffee and cakes for the adults.

Congratulations to all those who took part

This year we had our annual family bbq for those in our beaver and cub groups, together with their families. Amazingly it managed not to rain........and we had a fantastic turnout, with over 100 beavers, cubs and their parents. We held the bbq with our sister group – 19th Southgate, and all had a good time – even those who were doing the cooking. We took the opportunity to thank all those people in the community who have helped over the past year.

Walking from Mile End, Stepney Green always comes as a revelation to visitors with its attractive terraced houses and green spaces. The 5th North Finchley Brownies and the 4th Southgate Brownies have fun on their first camp.

Grandtots meets every Monday morning from 10am until 11.30am on the 1st floor of the Community Centre. If you are a grandparent with a toddler and are looking for a fun morning for both you and your grandchild, please come along. We have a lot of toys and healthy snacks to entertain the toddlers and the grandparents can enjoy a catch up over a cup of coffee. We even welcome parents to come and join us too!
